Amber's Story

Hi, my name is Amber and I have Type 1 Diabetes. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in November of 1995, I was 3 years old. My mom took me to the hospital and I had to stay for a week. From Friday until Monday I was in the intensive care unit, then from Monday until Friday I was sent to the pediactric ward.

It was a very scary time for my whole family. We knew nothing about Diabetes. It seems like a long time ago, but I'm reminded of it every day when I have to check my blood and give my shots.

Getting 3 to 5 shots every day and poking my fingers to check my blood 5 to 8 times a day isn't very fun. That's why we work hard all year long to raise money to help find a cure. Please help us find a cure for diabetes by making a donation to the American Diabetes Association on our behalf or in honor or memory of someone else you know with Diabetes.

You know what this all means don't you.........we need to find a cure for all types of Diabetes, for me and all of your family and friends!!
Every 21 seconds someone is diagnosed with Diabetes! Over 20 million people in the United States have Diabetes and it's a good chance one of your family members or friends is one of them! *** Help us find a cure! ***
